Movie #23 The Exorcist

(1973, US, d. William Friedkin)

It’s crazy how a movie made in the early 70’s is still the scariest movie of all time (apart from Rosemary’s Baby, which I have a personal bias for). The film focuses so much on its characters and you don’t even notice that the crap only really hits the fan more than 1 hour and 15 minutes into the movie. M. Night Shyamalan called this “the best sound movie ever made” because it used its sound so sparingly and effectively. Most of the film was silent until we began to hear some sort of paranormal activity. If anything, this is a great movie to see if you want to believe in God.
