Movie #30 Marathon Man
(1976, US, d. John Schlesinger)
One of the best thrillers ever made, Marathon Man is a film that will stick to you long after the credits close. I saw it some years ago but wanted to revisit it since I remembered a few extremely impacting scenes from it. It contains one of my favorite sequences from cinema, in which a Nazi must walk through the Jewish Jewelry District of New York City. I’d see this movie over and over again. While Schlesinger hasn’t made as big a splash as this film, Hoffman continues to prove an incredible method actor, harboring the film very believably.
