Movie #132 Slumdog Millionaire
(2008, US/UK, d. Danny Boyle)
When I was a senior in high school, there was a period of time when I was obsessed with this film. I mean: completely obsessed. And watching it a few years after, I was really happy to say at least there was reason behind it. Danny Boyle’s masterpiece is as an achievement in cinematography, editing, screenwriting, sound mixing and design, score, and just vision. Anchored by a strong story, Slumdog Millionaire allows its filmmaking techniques to take over and becomes living proof of the statement that a story is only and just as good as the way it is told. One of my many inspirations in the realm of film, Slumdog Millionaire is more than anything a very enjoyable film. It treats the audience with smarts and yet still manages to be a sweet and romantic drama.
